For over 20 years Torrance has worked to use technology to improve education for all. In 1996 he founded NYConnects, a not-for-profit, that wired and connected hundreds of New York schools to the Internet. He left Bloomberg to found eChalk in 1999, the first student-safe, SaaS LMS/CMS in K12.
Most recently he has jumped back in the start-up world with a new company, trovvit. trovvit enables learners and schools to capture their learning records and networks in one place and, by doing so, leverage them to find additional learning and job opportunities.
Torrance has spoken on numerous educational panels, mentored to start-ups and is, himself, constantly learning.
