Phil joined TigerText as its very first Sales & Bus Dev executive, helping the company close and onboard their first 3,000 enterprise & healthcare installations and close numerous channel partners (e.g., Sprint, CDW, AirWatch, MobileIron, Verizon Wireless). Phil worked at the company through two institutional rounds of VC funding for 4 years before moving back to Silicon Valley in early 2014 and continuing as an ongoing advisor.
Before that, for 6 years, Phil ran West Coast Sales & Business Development for Disney’s VoodooVox, a VC-backed mobile messaging/advertising platform that was evetnually acquired by UpSnap/CallGenie. In this role, Phil signed and managed some of the company’s largest and most important enterprise customers, including Fortune 1000 companies Coca-Cola, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Diageo, T-Mobile and Fox/News Corp.
Phil previously co-founded the VC-backed company CatchTV, which was acquired by OpenTV in 1999 and where Phil received a patent on the database technology Phil co-invented. Phil was also the first advisory board member of eBay–joining the company in fall 1996 when there were three employees and 10,000 registered users.
After eBay and CatchTV, Phil ran the CDN division of NEON Communications (a one-time competitor to Akamai), and in doing so, partnered and worked closely with Speedera Networks (which was funded by Trinity Ventures and later acquired by Akamai).
