Gregory Ferenbach is a special counsel in Cooley’s Regulatory Education practice and resident in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Ferenbach advises both for-profit and non-profit clients on education law matters at the federal and state level with an emphasis on issues arising from distance learning.
Mr. Ferenbach brings to bear his extensive experience as former General Counsel at both a large for-profit university and a major non-profit organization. He was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Strayer Education, Inc. (NASDAQ) and of Strayer University, Inc. where he worked from 2002 to 2010. Prior to joining Strayer, he was Senior Vice President and General Counsel to the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) where he negotiated business alliances in the media, education and new technology fields. Before joining PBS, he was an associate in the corporate practice group of Dow, Lohnes & Albertson and practiced corporate and securities law at Piper & Marbury in Baltimore, Maryland.
He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
