Adam Shapiro has been engaged in education management, education technology, and business consultation for over 25 years. He provides advisory services to education companies, educational institutions, policy makers and private equity companies in areas such as strategic planning, acquisitions, product development, go-to-market plans, executive development, and education industry analysis.
Mr. Shapiro is currently VP of Operations at ExecOnline, named by Forbes Magazine as a Top 10 EdTech Company in 2015. For 14 years, Mr. Shapiro held senior leadership positions, including VP of the Office of the President and Chair of the Executive Board, at Kumon North America, Inc., franchisor of over 26,000 learning centers in 50 countries–the largest and most successful supplemental education program in the world and the 4th largest franchisor in all industries around the world. For the latter half of his tenure at Kumon, he led corporate operations and corporate communications. The first half of his time there centered on business development and overseeing the growth of hundreds of franchise learning centers, which generated revenue in the tens of millions of dollars.
Subsequent to that, Mr. Shapiro was VP of Operations for Noodle Companies LLC, founded and led by John Katzman, Founder of the pioneering education and technology companies The Princeton Review and 2U ($2B Market Cap). Noodle consists of three subsidiaries: 1) vertical search and recommendation engine for education, 2) e-procurement solution for K-12 school districts, 3) platform for online university programs. There, he supervised interdepartmental operations and professional services working with schools, education businesses, and governmental agencies.
Mr. Shapiro serves on the Board of Directors of ReKode, Build Academy, and Tabtor and provides mentorship and consultation for Business Strategy Firms and Incubators, including TechStars, StartED, Good Harbor Partners, LearnLaunchX, National Education Week NYC, Startup Weekend DC, GLG, Third Bridge, and other business, education, and startup organizations and events.
