Founder of GSV, Michael Moe, kicked off the 2016 GSV Pioneer Summit with a rousing keynote about the mavericks who have changed the course of history with their ideas and tenacity, and the global changes that are opening the door for innovation.
“What is actually pretty normal, in fact more normal than not, is to accomplish great things, you have to overcome big impediments,” says Michael in the video of the keynote below. He goes on to discuss how Sir Richard Branson, Airbnb founder Brian Chesky, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, Alibaba founder Jack Ma, Reid Hoffman and and even Christopher Columbus worked through countless rejections before their striking successes. “And in one of the great pivots of all time, (Columbus) found America,” he quips.
Michael also outlines five gravitational shifts that are creating the opportunity for great innovation. Watch the full keynote to hear about how an increasing population of digital natives, major changes in geographical influence, more automation, the knowledge economy and the “Global Silicon Valley” are shaping the future.
